PURIM IS AROUND THE CORNER!!!

BH

Dearest good friends and comrades.

Shalom and Chodesh Tov.

I hope that this letter finds everyone well, happy and full of strong and solid Emunah in Hashem, His Torah and His True Tzaddikim.

Purim is around the corner, and the light of Mordekhai and Esther cannot go unnoticed.

Being and seeing that Purim is so very special - a gift to really get closer to Hashem and to awaken His true salvation - it is thus something that requires preparation and guidelines as to how to maximize the experience.

Some special insights and tips into making the best of Purim that one can:

  1. The Halakha teaches that on Purim, whoever asks for charity alms, we give him without any questions.  Even if we know for a fact that this person does have means to "get-by", still, if he sticks his hand out we have a Mitzvah on Purim to give him too. In light of this, the holy Magid of Mezritch explains that this also refers to the relationship between man and Hashem on Purim. Whoever "asks" from Hashem a request on Purim is also not denied or declined. Thus, Purim is a very propitious and special time to ask of Hashem what you need. It is a Chassidic custom to wake up early on Purim morning and practice a session of Hitbodedut (personal prayer and meditation) before the Purim day activities and action commence.
  2. The climax of the Purim festival is the intense joy generated through all the mitvot of this holy day. The public recital of the Megillah twice, the giving of alms to the needy, the sharing of food portions to one's friends - all this is meant to accumulate and strengthen the joyous atmosphere in the Purim meal and intoxication of wine. Through this one can merit tapping into the "inner" joy of Purim - the "light of Mordekhai" as it is termed in the Kabbalistic teachings. This joy is so great that it can "spill" over to the entire year, enabling one to always remain even in face of the most difficult tests and situations one must encounter in life.
  3. In Breslov, the special prayer composed by Reb Noson as a preparation for the Purim festival is said daily before Purim and on Purim itself. (For a free download of the prayer translation in english please follow this link - http://breslov.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/LTPURIM.pdf)
  4. Rebbe Nachman teaches that the best time for giving charity to the poor in the Holy Land is in the month of Adar (see Tzaddik #562 and Crossing the Narrow Bridge; Charity). For those interested in doing so can follow this link - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=43L2R4XSC7GL4. As a token of appreciation, please include in the detials box your full Hebrew name (if applicable) along with mother's Hebrew name, and we will bli neder try to daven for you for next 40 days.

May we all merit this Purim to taste of the unbelievable light and joy of Purim, and may we all see the total blotting out of the evil force of Haman-Amalek and the shining light of Mordekhai and Esther, Amen.

Sincerely

Meir
