After consulting with Rabbinical authorities from the Badatz Eidah Charedis Rabbinical council:
HaRav Yitzchok Rosenblatt shlita
HaRav Nachman Weinstock shlita
I found out that Jews residing in countries WEST of Israel can fulfill the Purim Mitzvah of Matanot LaEvyonim - Gifts to the Poor - with needy Jews in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a city which - unfortunately - is not lacking poor and needy families, who would very much appreciate being the recipients of this Purim Mitzvah.
How to do this:
Simply send your Matanot La'Evyonim gift through this paypal link: MATANOT LAEVYONIM IN JERUSALEM, and it will be distributed to the needy in Jerusalem on Purim day which falls this year on Thursday, March 5th.
The Conditions:
- In order that your Gift to the Poor can arrive before Purim, Thursday, March 5th, your gift must be sent no later than TODAY - THURSDAY MORNING, February 26th.
- This special offer applies to all places west of Israel up to and including Hawaii. This, so that the timing of the 14th of Adar matches both places after a time when the obligation begins (dawn) in your locality. The Matanot La'Evyonim will be distributed between 5:45pm-6:00pm on Thursday afternoon in Jerusalem
Shalom, be well, and may we all merit this year in tapping into the great light and joy of Purim, shining it into every crack and crevice of our lives, thus paving the way for the imminent arrival of Mashiach, the Ingathering of the exiled, and the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, Amen.
Sincerely
Meir Elkabas
